Why You Should Consider Natural Laundry Cleaners

In 2018 we moved from a big city to a small rural town. I could no longer use my harsh detergents, scent boosters and fabric softeners. I decided to go “all natural” and make my own septic safe laundry detergent.

I found out several things in this quest:

  • You need VERY little of this detergent to do a load of laundry – only 1 Tablespoon per HE load!
  • You can literally cut out shelves of laundry supplies.
  • My rash and sinus allergies magically disappeared.
  • My laundry smelled like it was line dried with that fresh “ozone” scent.
  • It’s less expensive than commercial detergents.
Use these Four Laundry Hacks

Here are the Four Laundry Hacks to Make Your Clothes Smell Like They Were Line Dried In a Lavender Field:

Detergent

Make or buy homemade small batch lavender laundry detergent.

Use according to manufacturer’s instructions. Here is the recipe for our Natural Lavender Laundry Detergent or you may purchase our Lavender Natural Laundry Detergent already made.

White or Infused White vinegar

Skip the fabric softener and add 1-2 ounces (2-4 Tablespoons) of white or infused white vinegar to your rinse cycle.

It is completely optional to infuse your vinegar with lavender buds for bonus lavender sensory points.

Do NOT put white vinegar directly in your fabric softener dispenser. It will destroy the parts. (Ask me how I know!)

White vinegar in your laundry rinse cycle softens fabrics, brightens whites and colors, deodorizes AND BONUS HERE: cleans your washing machine! Yes all that grime that is clinging to your washing machine is also located in the fibers of your clothing! The vinegar will help loosen that buildup out of your clothing.

Use 3-9 wool dryer balls

Wool dryer balls will replace your dryer sheets! Simply put the dryer balls in your dryer with your wet load of laundry.

The wool dryer balls dry your clothes faster, thus saving on energy. They also assist with taking out wrinkles, fluffing your towels and decreasing static cling.

They last for years! I just replaced my first set in 2022. The first set was purchased in 2018.

For added natural scent, you may spray our lavender linen spray generously on each dryer ball each time you use your dryer.

A true Lavender Linen Spray will help purify your clothing and leave a nice soft, natural scent.

Lavender Linen Spray

When your clothes are done drying, hang on a hanger and spritz with lavender linen spray before you put them away! This will help purify and reinforce a natural and light lavender scent.

Our linen spray is a “true hydrosol” which means it is not a water/essential oil/dispursant combo. You never have to “shake” a true hydrosol. It is a true farm curated distillate and the oils are entrained in the water. It will NOT stain your clothing, sheets or bedspread!

And, voila, just like that, your laundry smells like it was line dried in a lavender field!

If all of this seems intimidating, we invite you to try our Natural Lavender Laundry Products:
