Paul retired as a Chief Petty Officer and Maintenance Coordinator for Pearl Harbor. During his tenure, he taught Water Chemistry and most important for the lavender farm, he was a BT, boiler tech. His experience in the Navy helped him design our stills that create our most amazing hydrosols!

Paul Donohue owned not one, but two successful home inspection companies in Las Vegas for 20 years. His engineering aptitude is extremely valuable on our farm to this day!

Renee became a REALTOR(R) and eventually a broker, owning her own real estate company. Renee had been in front of the curve designing websites in the late 1990's and holds a very strong background in marketing. These marketing skills have been a crucial benefit for the lavender farm.

After knowing each other professionally for many years through phone conversations, Paul and Renee met in person for a business meeting in 2014. They were finishing each other's sentences within minutes and knew it was match that was meant to be!

Paul had lived in Anacortes, Washington for many years and loved the Pacific Northwest. Paul and Renee decided to get married on San Juan Island, Washington. During a planning trip in June 2015, Renee was able to see Pelindaba lavender farm in its full blooming glory. This trip and farm is the inspiration for Twin Flame Lavender Farm.

Paul and Renee married on San Juan Island at Lime Kiln Lighthouse. They were blessed with perfect weather, 3 pods of Orcas and a daylight full moon on this idyllic day.

Paul had his first heart attack and the Donohues decided that a fast paced, stressful, big city lifestyle was no longer for them. Medical was difficult to navigate and they set their sights on a move to Whidbey Island, Washington for a more quiet life and close to Navy medical in Oak Harbor. The planning and prepping to escape the stress began.

Paul and Renee visited Michigan for Thanksgiving. On a stormy day, being pelted with sand on Oval Beach, Renee fell in love with Michigan. She instantly wanted to make "the move." Paul was not convinced as he grew up in Michigan and was not immediately keen on the idea of living with snow again!
