Rose geranium is a scented geranium, and it’s one of the most delightful surprises we share with our guests. It’s not a “rose and geranium” (two separate plants,) as we often explain during farm tours—instead, it’s a single scented geranium plant bursting with fragrance. When our visitors “scratch and sniff” the velvety leaves, they’re amazed by the unmistakable aroma of fresh roses that fills the air.
As an aromatherapist, I’m captivated by all the possibilities rose geranium offers in the world of hydrosols and natural wellness. Its scent is uplifting and balancing, making it a staple in my blends for emotional support and relaxation. But rose geranium isn’t just about fragrance; its practical uses are impressive too.
We discovered its soothing power firsthand when Paul had an unfortunate run-in with a yellow jacket—right up his shorts! After being “bum” stung several times, we quickly sprayed his skin with rose geranium hydrosol. By morning, nearly all of his pain and welts had vanished (except for one sting I had missed). This gentle yet effective remedy is why we love turning our rose geranium hydrosol into skin-soothing lotions—it’s fabulous for calming skin.

Renee started out as an avid real estate blogger in 2006. Opting for a less stressful life, Paul and Renee moved to Michigan in 2018 and started a lavender farm in 2019.
