History of Herbes de Provence

First, let’s explore the fascinating history behind Herbs de Provence. This traditional herb blend originated in the Provence region of France, known for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant culinary heritage. The unique combination of herbs found in Herbs de Provence reflects the diverse flora that grows abundantly in this Mediterranean region.

Whether You’re an Experienced Chef or Amateur Cook…

…Incorporating Herbs de Provence into your recipes can take your dishes to new heights. The fragrant blend typically includes herbs such as lavender, thyme, rosemary, savory, marjoram, and oregano – each contributing its own unique essence to create a harmonious flavor combination.

Type of Lavender

This is one of the exceptions where a Lavandin may be incorporated.  After all the variety, “Provence,” is a Lavandin.  I do not recommend any other Lavandin.  Some use Phenomenal but it is bitter.  Any English Lavender would work, however, the variety Folgate is recommended for it’s peppery flavor profile.
